as I read the following:
Psalm 20, 21
Acts 8, 13
Judges 9
Jeremiah 22
Mark 8
Easily what set my heart ablaze today was the second line of psalm 20 (which is one of the last things I read)
NIV
Psalm 20
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
or NASB
1May the LORD answer you (A)in the day of trouble!
May the (B)name of the (C)God of Jacob set you securely on high!
It is simply the NAME of the Lord, the NAME of Jesus that will protect you/set you securely on high. Talk about power... Talk about being steadfast. In Acts, people were baptized in the name of Jesus, Philip preached JESUS to the Eunich on the road. What power and glory has his name. reading this brings me back to using the name of the Lord in vain... obviously one who's name holds so much power aught to be held up on high. Also, if simply his name has that much power... He gave us not only his name but he gave his life, his righteousness, his all just for us. When we discard his covenant with us (OT readings) we easily see that the wages of sin are death. But all the judgment upon the people of Israel was only ever to bring them back to him. Justice, but in Love for their final good. Pain and suffering, but for his glory and their ultimate salvation. The temptations of this world are prevalent, but we have the NAME of the Lord written upon our hearts that provides us strength and refuge from all wickedness. Psalm 21 - He is strong, the King, our King trusted in the Lord his Father and so must we as he did even when the pain seems unbearable. Even if we never know why it is for his glory.
I am thankful to the Lord for my challenges, and I MUST boast in him for his deliverance from my own sin and brokenness. I am truly blessed and all my blessings have been from him. It is to HIM I give thanks and in his NAME that I BOAST and TRUST.
